My Final Post!!!

I really enjoyed EDM310 and the people in the class. I truly learned some things that I never would think to approach as I said in my video post. I wouldn't change anything in class, however, I would change all of the assignments being a handful. It seemed as if we were juggling 2 and 3 at the same time and I was kind of confused. On the other hand though, I learned how to maneuver through them all. I might have did some things wrong but I fixed them in the end. I didn't learn anything that I didn't want to learn. I will not try to erase anything out of my head because even if I don't use them, I can surely at least tell someone how to use it. This class truly excited me in every way possible. I learn how to do things that I have been yearning to do. I feel that I have more to give to people than just my conversation face to face, letters to home, emails, or fax. I now have discovered new ways of communication amongst me and my friends and family. Not even just my loved ones but the entire world can have a different way of communication towards through podcasting and skype. I can say that I'm giving the world an advantage to come into my life and also go into the world as well.
I found a lot of things that were challenging but I feel that we were suppose to be challenged if we have never experienced this before. In an intellectual standpoint, I had no clue of these sorts of things that were going on in the class so that is why it challenged me intellectually. I did not have a bored moment in this class because it kept my undivided attention and plus I was willing to learn.
In conclusion, I wouldn't change too much in the class. I would probably add some fun projects such as mimicking a podcast your preference. I would include making a blog for your first class. Basically I would like to see more creative activities to surface instead of telling you what we think about podcast all the time. In my opinion, I have become literate towards technology to an extent of medium. I know enough to get me by in the long run but I can stand to learn some more. All in all, I will continue to improve because I like to be different any way possible and I will continue to play with these gadgets because now I have a Mac and I'm excited to use it more in different ways

Project 10

LISTEN HERE. Project 10 Me, Mr. Rabb, and Mr. Patterson Is facebook useful or not useful for teachers??

Project 11

Project 11 was a very good topic that I learned about. I already knew what youtube was about but I had an idea what teachertube was about but not fully. I'm so happy that I can to a place where I can get creative ideas or even share mine. I learned that teachers all around the world can connect with each other and I'm so greatful for that. I will be signing up for the website and hopefully other educators will do as well. I worked on this project with Ms. Washington, Mr. Patterson, and Mr. Rabb and I truly enjoyed our ups and downs on this project but in the end we pulled through. Thank you guys for the help and I had fun
I truly was motivated by my classmate Keysha Boltz to do this activity and I thought I couldn't but was excited when I published this. I am truly sorry for my hair but I had to say good bye to my professor and classmates. I hope I see you all sometime in the future.

ALEX

I really do admire this website and definitely will take it into consideration. This website is for teachers who needs some ideas of how to get started in the teacher career or for those who simply needs some ideas. It is a great resource for educators to get some organization to their career in teaching. Not only do they have resources for teachers but also for administration and students. Students can have a great learning experience online while at school or after school. It provides all sorts of things such as grant opportunities, content standards for Alabama, and web links. It is so easy to get registered, which how every registry go with other websites, and then you can browse through all of the helpful resources that ALEX has to offer. In my opinion no one can go wrong with ALEX. It has every thing possible for teachers, administration, and students.

Dear Kaia:)

This story was truly amazing to me. I think that a girl of Kaia's age exploring the desert like land is great. She is learning at such a small age and she enjoyed it. Her father, yet, was concerned about his daughter's relationship with nature and with that being said he also wanted to spend time with her as well. He read the book "The Last Child in The Woods" and was inspired. The father actually let Kaia take the pictures and they were beautiful. It is truly astonishing that a father and daughter are learning and bonding together. While they took action, they probably did not know that their actions would be recognized. Peoples comments were so positive and caring. I think that this so powerful that a little girl has caught the eye of so many people. If the technology was not there then people would not have had a clue of their aspirations. This type of communication is going to make us and we have to get with the program. If we do not empower our students to become technology literate then I believe that we will not be able to progress to a better future. I honestly think that they should promote more technology in the schools.

Comments for KIDs Mr. Goerend's Class

I was assigned Shea C. She blogged about Cheetah Holiday. I think it was very interesting how A Cheetah Holiday even exist. I can't believe that people will run on all fours and dress up in a cheetah suit. It does seem weird but at least it is in a parade. It makes a big difference when it is for an occasion instead of people everywhere in grocery stores or on the street exuding this behavior. I guess it is true that you learn something new everyday. Thanks to her I became a little more intelligent.

Media Literacies

I feel that these terms do fit for the new age of media. I personally am associated with the multitasking, play, and judgment. Without these beneficial skills people will not how to work with the cell phones, computers, and etc. I feel judgment is a hard skill to acquire but it will take you a minute or so to acquire. I do go to other websites to find out if the facts that are being said are reliable or not reliable. I think everyone acquires some type of skill even if it's not one of these. I will try to acquire others by just learning new information and absorbing everything from technology. I hope to acquire all of them in this 21st century and my family as well.

Wendy Drexler!!!!!

I really enjoyed the movie. I think that it would have been hard for me to go through what that young man went through. I probably would have failed but I like the fact that resources were there to help him all the way through and he passed the class or assignment. The question really stood out to me and kind of scared me a little. I feel that we do need the teachers to guide us in the right direction. Whether we are networking or not we still need a teacher there wit us because that is how we learned in the past which is face to face communication. Sure we can network with other professors and students but some people do not learn as well on that way specifically. All of the steps he had to go through took up so much time as to where the teacher could have just explained to him in class or afterwards. Im not saying that it was bad that the professor made him go on a journey, but it could've been easier with her help. I am all for networking, meeting new people, and discovering new things. I believe that all of use the computer whether or not the professor explains the assignment. I personally am new to all of this technology and now I am glad that I have been introduced to it by Dr.Strange. However, if a teacher were to give me a complicated assignment then I guess I would have to network after all to get a decent grade. Great Movie and drawings!!!!!

This is how we dream part 1 and 2: Dr Miller

imgres.jpg I totally agree with him that this is incremental and not fundamental. Us as a whole is gaining more knowledge and pushing ourselves to the limit. Of course we learn enough from the teacher in front of the classroom but we learn so much more from people by getting online to hear lectures from other parts of the world in other classroom. We are gaining other cultures as well. We are intaking so much from the world. Our students are not only growing academically in our basic subjects but are learning how to connect to the world by typing, learning different cultures, and getting different viewpoints.

I am not going to say that using pencil, crayons, and etc. is not beneficial anymore but instead technology has given a very wide range of possibilities for our students and ourselves as well. I like that he mentioned making movies and publishing as well. I actually made a campaign ad for my best friend for homecoming. I enjoyed it and it made creativity exude out of me. It's just unbelievable that we can make movies just like the directors that makes movies for the big screen.

Comment's for Kids Ms. Graves Class

I actually could not comment on the child I was suppose to comment on because something went wrong with posting it for themselves I guess. However Dr. Strange assigned me to another child of my choice. I actually comment on a child's blog with a football blog. He really didn't have much on there to talk about but I commented about my favorite team which is the Saints and I think he changed his blog because of me because of the fact that he had "My favorite football team is Chicago Bulls". It wasn't a problem though because I expressed my feeling about football and basketball. It was a good introduction blog for a child beginning blog.imgres.jpg

ITunesU!!!

ItunesU is a helpful resource for students and teachers. As a student, I can explore other universities. I can learn a lot of information from class sessions from other universities. The great part about all of this is that all of the information is free. I don't have to just use my computer only, but I can use my iphone as well so that I will not miss anything. As the clip said, there is no limit to where and what you can learn which great. As a teacher, I can use a rule that is common in the teaching field which is beg, borrow, and steal. I can go to ItunesU and borrow lectures that can probably explain things better than I can. I can use it also to publish my lectures as well for my students or other schools to help them as well. For a introduction for ItunesU follow Watch the video.

Dr.Christie's website

I have seen Dr. Christie's website and I went into a section where she has sites for children. I did not know that sites existed for a learning basis for children. I am really excited about this. I as a teacher can have my students learn and explore the web. My students will be getting birds with one stone. Using the technology will empower them and make them aware of how to use it. On the other hand, the websites that are built are also giving them more adventure. I can use this tool to give my students some learning experiences that I personally or teacher/wise cannot give them. These websites such as ask.com and yahooligans have things such as astrology, health, and foreign languages. I have not heard if students in the second grade are learning these certain subject matters, but I'm glad that sites such as these exists so that my students can explore at an early age.

Dr. Alice Christie: Geocaching Podcast!!!

Geocaching is an as Dr. Christie says is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users of all ages. I have geocached before in my sophomore year of college. I really did not take much interest in it because we had a time limit and it was hard for to find the treasure. Geocaching is a great way for children to explore and outside of the classroom. Not to mention that geocaching will be great for teachers as well. The environment will become not teacher centered anymore but it can be an exploratory environment instead. Students will be able to think outside of the box literally. The GPS will also empower their sense of direction. It will be introducing them to adventure, exploring, responsibility as well.

Mr.McClung

I really enjoyed this blog. When I hear someone say in their blog that you have to be patient with children and don't worry about making mistakes, it prepares me for a path I wish to take. I'm glad that Dr.Strange makes these blogs a part of the assignment because the more I read it or hear it, it truly helps me. He mentioned communication and that is a troublesome factor for me. I don't communicate well with people and I am working on that. Sometimes I have too much pride which really hurts me. I feel that if I want a bulletin from another teacher or want to simply borrow something then I will have trouble asking because I feel that I should think of my own bulletin or buy it for myself. Another thing he learned is to never stop learning. Sometimes I feel I know everything and I could not be wrong but hearing this from not only Mr. McClung but others is helping a lot. I hope to work on these things in particular so that I can have a smooth first year. I'm learning that people/first year teachers are blogging and verbally telling undergraduates such as me these facts because they do not want us to make the same mistake. I am slowly but surely taking it all in.

Wikipedia!!! and Wired Story

This Podcast is unbelievable. I can't believe that the internet encyclopedia could be unreliable. I have been using this site since I have been writing papers in the seventh grade that could not have been reliable. I am kind of glad that they have found this so that the people or company can stop polishing the Wikipedia image. I usually go to the web site called Ask.com and I wonder if this site could be fraud sometimes. However, it goes to show that the truth is always unveiled. The most astonishing fact is that they can trace the computer as well and that creeps me out. The only way that a person who is searching for information can get reliable information is to go check other websites as well. In the end, making adjustments to Wikipedia can really damage your image.
The Wired Story is very interesting. This goes to show that people need to make sure that these websites are true. Doing a lot of research will be necessary now. Mr. Griffith is airing out the dirty laundry. This could possibly hurt business and people as well. In my opinion, If they can't take the heat they should get out of the kitchen. Walmart is really hurting their image by lying to people about their wages. It will also kill the integrity of their franchise. My question is why is Walmart of all businesses altering their facts? Do they need more workers? Im confused because they are an industry worth billions of dollars.

Randy Pausch Last Lecture

He is a very interesting man who catches my attention from beginning to end. He delivered very well and had a great sense of humor. He actually talked about a situation that my boyfriend went through with football. The coach was basically giving him a HARD time but, I was telling him that it possibly could be that he cares of how well you should do on the field. That teaching mechanism sometimes work if the player is interested to go through wit it but in most cases it does make a better player. I'm glad that he is acknowledging this so that when people experience this in a sport, class, or other things; it will let them know that they are not being the victim.
His motto that he was saying, "Brick walls are there for a reason......". He basically tell us that the brick wall did not hold him from achieving his dreams. Even through his condition, he held his head high and lives his life. I really admire people like him.

Karl Fisch

This blog really caught my attention. I feel that this is a big wake up call to all teachers and educators. I do know that we are in the technology age and its more than pencil and paper. Knowing that we are in a technology age, how can we as teachers educate students technologically literate when we have not achieved that level. I recently have seen a presendential address where he says that we need that education to be of more importance in our children's lives. He also stressed the fact that we need more jobs for people. I believe that our teachers who have been in the school system for quite a time should have a technology literate helper to help them since all of this technology is overwhelming. Doing so, this can give jobs to people and help with education. This will be a prime example of killing two birds with one stone.

Kelly Hines

I totally agree on this subject matter. Teaching in the classroom is a must. I believe that technology can teach the students. In some students' cases they may not be visual learners or they can not sit and listen to an audio if instructed. (It's different strokes for different folks) A teacher must be willing, patient, and caring to the students for them to actually learn. We can't just sit a student in front of a computer and expect them to be geniuses. Sometimes interactivity helps student to comprehend better or in my opinion all the time. I learned a long time ago that if a teacher shows how creative they are in the classroom, then it reflects on students. A teacher is, in my opinion, a second mother to students. They are always studying their teacher. If the teacher is creative and being an effective teacher then it will eventually have an effect on students. On the the other hand, computers can not have a tremendous on students.

Michael Wesch: A Vision of Students Today

I absolutely loved this video. It was a nice concept, setup, and very unique of how it came about. I can relate tremendously to this video such as facebook during class. It's sad to say but that video clip is every college students' life in this era. It's even worse to say that even high school and middle school students have this involved in their lives as well. It seems that we are particularly lazy when it comes to school work and then very energetic when it comes to emailing and facebooking. I hope that we all can get technology to go in a direction where it a lot more positive instead of negative. It seems that we always know how to make a good resource negative. However, maneuvering through technology is helping us whether you like it or not. I think altogether social networking does help us become more aware our surroundings.

Week 4 ASSignment children's blog

I have read all those fun and exciting blogs from the children. They really expressed themselves on their blogs about their vacations. I hate the fact that some of them had to go through tragedies before their summers began but at least it turned out great in the end. However I loved the fact that most of them did things that I have never done. The camps, boat riding, parasailing is astounding to me. I can actually read blogs of that sort and respond to them daily.

children's BLOGS!!!

I really enjoyed viewing how children can express their mind. I'm glad to see that children are not losing creativity and their viewpoints. I wish that I had read the story so that I could relate to them a little more. However, their comments actually make me want to get the book and read it.

The Benefits of podcasting in the classroom

I have learned that podcasting is becoming relevant for us today. In their words we are called millenial babies( anyone born after 1980). I like that podcasting can help a student from her own house if he or she is sick. On that concept, I think that if some students who are always getting in trouble or can't get along with other students can always use podcasts. The project podcast can be very neat. I think that doing projects manually or by explaining your viewpoints on paper is not popular anymore. Podcasting your viewpoints has a more effective way of reaching your professor and others if you wish to share. I do hope to make podcasting useful in my classroom one day. I think it will be nice for students who do not see their parents much or guardians to view their children's thoughts on specific ideas in the world.

Use of Itunes in

Itunes in Education thoughts!!!

I enjoyed the fact that these students are expressing their thoughts on how Itunes can be used in every way to make it easier in the classroom. I also like the fact that it is CHEAP!! Other factors such as purchasing movies and a lot of other great things are as Angel said .99 to 12.99. I also like how Owen went into detail of how we will be using this technology for the students. Students, as he mention, will be able to do their homework a lot faster. One thing that I can relate to is being able to look at a lecture or listen to one from my professor. I absolutely hate to read so I agree with Owen on making books not the only optiion to learn. Students being able to express their work or learning experience through technology also help other students as Owen mentions. Students being able to learn from other students is a great way of learning because we as students think totally different from our professors.

POdCasTS!!!

I have watched the videos on podcasts and found it to be very interesting. Engaging into this new technology is a big step for me but I am enjoying it. I know that I need to be well rounded with the technology. Some of it I do like but others I can really do without. The SmartBoard lessons podcast were interesting because you can connect with people so far away. Being able to learn from a different culture or viewpoint can be very helpful than just reading from a text book about the culture. Teachers and students can learn directly from the source which is very accurate.
The EdTechTalk was astonishing. I can't even imagine having a portable device in a classroom when I was 12 or 16 years of age. It shows how not having technology at students' hands is not being beneficial anymore. I really can relate to this because when a teacher would like u to find something on youtube or something, having a cell phone with the internet would be quick and easy. I also find it to helpful to parents or students who are on their own to buy a phone with internet because it would be less expensive as well .
The MacBreak Weekly was too interesting. It is really reassuring to be able to hear people directly about a vacation they have taken or anything beyond that. The two students who went to Japan were able to share an experience to the world. They talked about the culture of the Japanese and how it was different from ours. I believe that if people of all cultures were to share their experiences from where they have visited, I believe traveling could increase tremendously. Not only traveling but other topics such as cooking recipes. I believe if we wanted to cook a Europe dish, I should be able to find and cook it originally. I don't know if people take advantage of it in this particular way but if it does I would like to know.
I have listened to all of these podcasts and it was very overwhelming and I figure that I have a lot of learning to do. I have been introduced to a new world and it will be so exciting to teach my students every little detail of technology that I know. I know that I will have an outreach to my students

My first blog page!!!!!!

I have posted my blogs and im excited. I never knew how to blog but now I do. I know it is going to help me in the long run for sure. Im just toooo excited to see what else im going to learn in this class. I feel a whole lot professional!

Mr. Robinson: Creativity

I sometimes agree and disagree with his comments. I believe creativity still do exist in schools and sometime it is suppressed. Every teacher that I know of has some kind of art work on their bulletin board that children have done. Sometimes the art work is strange, funny, or sometimes perfect but the kids did express themselves. On the other hand, Some educators have the tendency to tell their students how they want them to color their color sheets and don't let them be creative. I have not had access to numerous schools but the ones that I have visited had a lot of creativity. Another way to suppress creativity in schools is establishing dress codes. I personally don't disagree with it but it doesn't let their personality and creativity show itself.

Did you know 3.0 and Mr. Winkle Wakes

The "did you know" video was kind of scary. It made me realize that the United States is kind of lacking in some areas. Its good to know how technology is growing rapidly and being an outreach to our future generation. They are the main people that need to know how to maneuver these technologies so that we can all grow as a whole. I think the comment about the honor kids was astonishing. It let me know that the U.S is very lazy and behind in academics. I think in the end our future students will be in an era where all they will have to know is how to handle a computer and not know anything because info will be available in seconds.
The Mr. Winkle video made me think how will it be years and years from now. We could have flying cars or we could maybe cook a turkey in 3 seconds. I hope that it will not defeat us but help us in the end. It is also scary to think that machines can outsmart us any day.

NOTHIN MUCH TO SAY ABOUT ME BUT HERE IT GOES!!

Hello Everyone my name is Jessica DeBose. I am from Mississippi and now currently attend University of South Alabama. I decided to major in Education because it basically runs in my family and im really great with children. I love to play tennis and go to the movies. I have only one brother. My favorite color is red. Im in the AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION and IMPACT. Im a cool person once you get to KNOW me. P.S. my Birthday is on November 2!!

Vicki Davis: Harnessing your students' Digital Smarts

I think going in a direction of just using technology is very enhancing to student's minds. On the other hand, paper and pencil will get us by when the technology decides to crash. It isn't certain that the computers will be up and running every day or what if mother nature decides to take action and power goes out. All im saying is paper and pencil will not hurt in some areas. Technology is risky factor if we depend only on IT! Although, computers and such are great tools for us to learn different lifestyles other than your own and gives a student quick access to learn.
